Champions of Battle: The Very Best – Opportunity #24

Brisa continued passed the stores with her brisk walk.  It was unlikely the people that set the trap would attack her now.  A daytime attack in the open street would be very unprofessional.  It didn’t mean they would leave her alone though.  They could be tracking her.  Better to be safe and keep moving.

Though the situation ended well she was still upset.  All her preparations for the city had fallen horribly short.  She had the clothes.  She had incredible weapons.  She had the walk.  She looked like a fighter, maybe even a contender for the tournament in Bear Gate.  Still, she became a target.

Brisa knew that she didn’t know all the ways that a person could be tracked.  She didn’t even know what she was targeted for.  However, if she was a target, it would be best to stay away from the shadows.  There were enough guards by the stores to make her feel safe.  She paused near a relatively strong looking guard to take in her surroundings.

She looked around the city streets.  Sunflowers towered in the background.  They stared at the sun on its journey through the sky.  Looking at street level, unique stone and concrete structures filled her view.  The city streets were sprinkled with flowers.  In spite of its deserved reputation, West Drop was beautiful.  She could get lost in the beauty but she had to find her way back to the shuttle pad.

Upon trying to get her bearings, she saw a particular building that demanded her attention.  The architects spent too much time planning its elaborate spires and large glass windows for her to ignore it.  Purple and white flowers lined the street in front of it.  Red flowers lead up the stairway to the elaborate large door.

Drawn to it, she walked up the stairs to the door.  Next to the door was a banner for the Sword Mastery Talent School.  Inside, there were people with training swords practicing forms and sparring inside.  They jumped and flipped, parried and poked with their weapons.  The feats they performed were amazing.  She wanted those skills and had the weapons to learn from them.

She decided.  If she was going to be a target, she would try to be a dangerous one.  She knew she would not become dangerous right away.  Even with intense training, she would not learn much before hour seventeen.  Still, basic talents were better than no talents at all.

She entered the school leaving the cloaked hover tracker behind.
