Rubin\u2019s Trail, Science Facility, Research Labs:<\/p>\n
Tosca Shi\u2019s joy of potential research and discovery was short lived.\u00a0 It was only a question of time before news of her actions reached her supervisor.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t take long at all.<\/p>\n
She already knew how the assistant director would respond to her request to test the droid with AD7.\u00a0 However, going behind her supervisor\u2019s back for the director\u2019s permission was a risky boundary to cross.\u00a0 Now in the assistant director\u2019s office, she was feeling the full brunt of Dr. Cheari Wu\u2019s wrath.\u00a0 Tosca could do nothing but listen as she was scolded.<\/p>\n
Dr. Wu was not the one who saw wisdom in pointless yelling.\u00a0 However, it became evident how strongly she felt about this issue.\u00a0 After a few minutes of loud scolding, it seemed as though Chaeri was only getting started, \u201cWhat were you thinking<\/em><\/strong>?!\u00a0 We have no way<\/em><\/strong> to know how the droids would react to her!\u00a0 We keep Aa Dee Seven separate from her droids for a reason<\/em><\/strong>!\u201d<\/p>\n The assistant director continued along those lines, sternly reminding Tosca of the great risks posed by each of the projects.\u00a0 Boundaries were set to eliminate those risks.\u00a0 Though she avoided insulting Tosca\u2019s intelligence, she wanted to make it painfully clear the danger she may have caused with her impatience.<\/p>\n Tosca spent the time finding interest in her shoes as she listened.\u00a0 After taking ownership of the ball droid project, she did all she could to see something come of it.\u00a0 Perhaps she had let the presumed power get the best of her.<\/p>\n Tosca had figured that AD7 was able to interact with all the facility\u2019s machines already.\u00a0 Granted, many of the devices they used were considered Rubin\u2019s Trail technology now.\u00a0 Still, almost all of the technology developed in the last twenty years had been modified from the Mech Fortress\u2019 devices.\u00a0 To AD7, the programming would only be slightly different from her machines.<\/p>\n Tosca knew the risk was possible.\u00a0 There were always risks with innovative research.\u00a0 Doctor Yu was even testing AD7 with the weapons she used in the war!\u00a0 If AD7 was to act in violence, she would have done so by now.<\/p>\n However, it would do little good to explain this to the facility\u2019s assistant director.\u00a0 Doctor Wu didn\u2019t seem to agree with her reasoning, \u201cLet me remind you who we are dealing with,\u201d the assistant facility director paced as she spoke, \u201cAa Dee Seven<\/em>, the one that held our greatest warriors back with a simple tower defense wall<\/em>. Aa Dee Seven<\/em>, the one that could have covered our entire valley<\/em> with her mechanized landscape when she took the offensive.<\/p>\n \u201cShe became a machine herself and defeated us time and time again with her creations.\u00a0 So, the most brilliant, horrifying, mechanized, military mind is here<\/em>, awake<\/em>, in this facility.\u00a0 Unless we can convince her that the war is over and we are not her enemy, she will escape and destroy us<\/em>.\u00a0 Do you understand?\u201d<\/p>\n The clear, cold tone the assistant director used as she finished told Tosca that there was much more she wanted to say but chose not to.\u00a0 The war was horrible enough when it was on the other side of the valley.\u00a0 If it started again in the castle, Rubin\u2019s Trail was doomed.<\/p>\n Tosca took the cue to be much more respectful of their situation, \u201cYes ma\u2019am.\u201d<\/p>\n Sitting back down at her desk, Dr. Wu added, \u201cNever do anything like that again or your work in this field is over.\u201d<\/p>\n Taking that as a signal of the conversation\u2019s end, Tosca bowed and left the room.<\/p>\n #1<\/a> \u2013 Awakening #33<\/a>\u00a0– Awakening #35<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Rubin\u2019s Trail, Science Facility, Research Labs: Tosca Shi\u2019s joy of potential research and discovery was short lived.\u00a0 It was only a question of time before news of her actions reached her supervisor.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t take long at all.
