\u201cHow did you know to come to this particular alley?\u201d \u00a0Detective Coye Han asked about the alley scene but not as a sympathetic investigator. \u00a0His skin was a dark eggshell color, almost an off grey. \u00a0Large light violet patches crept up to cover a large portion of the left side of his face. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His clothes were not in disrepair, just very well used. \u00a0A dark green hat and matching wind coat with the proud symbol of the yellow West Drop Sunflower just under his left collar. \u00a0His eyes were keen but struggled to stay open. \u00a0He had rushed into this scene as a response to their call. \u00a0His flashing communicator spoke that he would be rushing off to another scene soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was checking <\/span>all<\/span><\/i> the alleys,\u201d Catlin replied, \u201cWe stopped when we saw this.\u201d \u00a0She pointed to all the bloodstains and slash marks in the alley.<\/span><\/p>\n

Catlin had been separated from Neely who was around the alley\u2019s corner talking to another detective, basic procedure. \u00a0However, this was the third way these same questions were asked. \u00a0While waiting for original questions, Catlin\u2019s focus shifted to more important matters.<\/span><\/p>\n

She had a wonderful view of guards searching through the stolen gear and the guards were acting strangely because of it. \u00a0Initially, each item was so light that the guards couldn\u2019t help but lift the items high enough for Catlin to see. \u00a0Strangely, each item gained its original weight after Catlin was convinced that she didn\u2019t make it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWho was it you say you were looking for again?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOh, a friend I met on the shuttle.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The detective caught the bit of hesitation. \u00a0\u201cIf she is your friend, why did she run away from you?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t run away from <\/span>me<\/span><\/i> she ran into the city. \u00a0Loads of people saw her run this way, with<\/span> someone else<\/span><\/i>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone that wasn\u2019t you?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you followed?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOnly <\/span>after<\/span><\/i> I learned that she may be attacked.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The detective tried but couldn\u2019t find any way to refute her response. \u00a0As such, there was no reason for him to hold her, yet. \u00a0He had the statement stored well in his mind and on a recorder. \u00a0\u201cYou\u2019re free to go but stay around for a bit,\u201d the detective added in a mock tour guide voice, \u201cSee the sights.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Catlin shifted her attention to the detective just in time to catch the dismissal, \u201cSure.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She didn\u2019t hear everything he had just said but it wasn\u2019t important. \u00a0She was quite done with the alley; satisfied that none of the gear she had made was here. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Catlin\u2019s gear products were good, really good but were not the best. \u00a0Trolls that would steal armor from Champions would only keep the best items and discard the rest, in a pile. \u00a0She released an audible sigh following the logic that Brisa had not met with these gankers. \u00a0That was almost enough info for now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neely <\/span>could be<\/span><\/i> right again. \u00a0Brisa <\/span>could be<\/span><\/i> doing fine but it\u2019s better to be sure. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Catlin walked around the corner where Neely\u2019s interview was finishing as well. \u00a0At the news of her finding, she expecting to see his common \u201cI told you so\u201d face. \u00a0What she saw instead was a face that renewed concern.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neely was emotionless and stared through Catlin\u2019s eyes as she spoke. \u00a0His tone was unusually stone cold as well, \u201cWe should head to an inn. \u00a0It\u2019s getting late.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

From past experiences, Catlin knew not to argue with Neely when he got like this. \u00a0Instead, she followed his cue, \u201cAre there any nearby.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In response, Neely revealed a keypad under the armor on his arm. \u00a0After a little button pushing, a 3D hologram of the city projected from his armor into the space between them. \u00a0Solid skyblue and crimson dots marked their current location in the city and the places they had visited in the city appeared in much greater detail.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hotels throughout all of West Drop were shaded in green standing out among the hollow grey buildings they had not gone near. \u00a0Each hotel was named and a set of rankings were represented by lines of gold, blue, and black dots just above the roofs. \u00a0Catlin knew that in a city like this the safety of the hotel was the most important value. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Catlin ignored the gold dots; price was not an issue. \u00a0She looked for blue dots as the hotels needed to have available rooms. \u00a0However, she focused on the hotel\u2019s black dots. \u00a0Also, a high top floor was a must. \u00a0She naturally chose the hotel with the least black dots and a high top floor. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Not questioning her choice at all, Neely shut down the image and started running through the city again. \u00a0Catlin followed but her thoughts went elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

Catlin immediately worried about Brisa again. \u00a0She <\/span>needed <\/span><\/i>to know if Brisa was doing well. \u00a0The inability to know burned in her mind. \u00a0Sure, Brisa hadn\u2019t run into these gankers but there were other threats to be had in a city such as West Drop. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, these worries had to wait for another day. \u00a0Catlin had seen Neely in this mood many times since he had learned his Holy Talent Set. \u00a0She had ignored Neely exactly once when he was like this. \u00a0She was going to follow him this time.<\/span><\/p>\n
