Mahari\u2019s bot lagged about to send the information to the factory computer. \u00a0It didn\u2019t take long to set a beacon but Dusk\u2019s bot was long gone before Mahari could finish. \u00a0There was no point in trying to slow Dusk down either. \u00a0All Mahari could do was mark his speeders location the computer\u2019s internal map and try to follow.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was flustering to trail behind but they had to keep the target moving and slightly panicked. \u00a0Soon, all training-bots and speeders will be in this area to trap the intruder. \u00a0If they allowed enough time to hide, they would lose their prey. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mahari had to judge from sound alone exactly where Dusk had gone. \u00a0With the bot\u2019s enhanced hearing, he caught the already faint whine of a speeder flying through the alleyways. \u00a0At that, he kicked into gear and raised his speeder above the rooftops towards Dusk\u2019s general direction. \u00a0By cutting across the roofs, he caught up and was soon above and behind Dusk again. \u00a0As suspected, Dusk was darting quickly through the alleyways at nearly impossible speeds. \u00a0Granted, he seemed to be having a little trouble on the turns, but he was as determined as always. \u00a0There was no way their target could be far.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was the tricky part.<\/span><\/p>\n

Past experiences taught Mahari never to underestimate academy students. \u00a0He and Dusk were honored to take part in the academy\u2019s final exams and tournaments. \u00a0As a result, he had an idea of what he could be facing. \u00a0Hopefully, Dusk remembered as well. \u00a0This one was still training but, was being personally tutored by a Founder.<\/span><\/p>\n

The average students were beyond difficult to beat in groups, more difficult when the groups were organized. \u00a0Even though this student was alone, Mahari knew to be careful. \u00a0In the tests, his bot was destroyed many times before he knew anything was happening. \u00a0That may happen a few times today as well. \u00a0He kept an eye on the path ahead of Dusk\u2019s bot to check for odd happenings. \u00a0Often, Dusk got so focused on the trail that he may miss things that were right in front of him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dusk followed the footprints hurriedly on their path. \u00a0The distance between prints spread further and further as this student ran faster and faster through the alleys. \u00a0It had to be a girl. \u00a0There was no way a dude\u2019s feet were that small. \u00a0She somehow managed to run ridiculously fast without running into anything on the ground or walls. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At times, her stride was more than twenty centimeters. \u00a0To be honest, he wasn\u2019t certain that he was catching up. \u00a0She ran on walls as she turned while Dusk had to slow down to avoid crashing. \u00a0They had crossed a few streets but were going so fast, any patrolling bots would only hear his speeder zip by and miss the chase completely. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her path seemed random but she was generally heading for a small housing district. \u00a0Dusk wasn\u2019t sure if she was going there on purpose or if she was truly panicked. \u00a0Either way, he knew where she was going. \u00a0He pressed a button on his speeder to contact his partner. \u00a0\u201cMahari.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAye,\u201d received Mahari on the other end.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s goin\u2019 to\u2026 <\/span>OhShu<\/i><\/b>!<\/span><\/i>,\u201d Dusk swerved violently as he twisted around to correctly make a turn. \u00a0Sparks flew as he scraped the concrete ground. \u00a0Once upright, he kicked the speeder back into gear to get back on her trail.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCareful,\u201d Mahari warned.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAlways,\u201d Dusk lied. \u00a0The concrete scratch on the bottom of his speeder was a testament to that. \u00a0\u201cShe\u2019s going to Pine Hill.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGot it. \u00a0I\u2019ll set it up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll catch this one. \u00a0First hit is mine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dusk was surprised at his own aggressiveness. \u00a0The Protectors had never done any wrong to him or his family, they had actually been very good customers. \u00a0Nonetheless, he was currently hunting one down with the hope of beating her to submission.<\/span><\/p>\n

For a brief second, he considered going easy just this one time. \u00a0He pushed the thought aside just as quickly as it came. \u00a0Though she was still in training, the harsh realities of Protector life would be realized eventually. \u00a0Enemies to Glory City definitely won\u2019t go easy and would have reason not to. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They would torture and kill gruesomely. <\/span><\/p>\n

Comparatively, they were being merciful to her and the trap will finish this test. \u00a0As planned, all training-bots started converging near the housing district, hidden and ready to pounce. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was not getting away.<\/span><\/p>\n
