The food arrived exactly when expected. \u00a0The waiter delivered their food with practiced hands and walked off after the practiced question of additional needs. \u00a0Of course, the ladies\u2019 had exactly what they wanted.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the waiter left, Chaeri leaned onto Tosca and couldn\u2019t help but comment, \u201cYou think we should swap our orders to confuse them?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tosca smiled and returned her lean, \u201cThey\u2019d probably get our food right anyway.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI like what I get,\u201d Adrianne added before taking the largest bite possible into her spiced pulled meat sandwich.<\/span><\/p>\n

Much more than liked, Adrianne loved the food at this particular \u00a0restaurant. \u00a0It was always better than she remembered. \u00a0There was a <\/span>Ge\u2019s<\/span><\/i> in Rubin\u2019s Trail but it wasn\u2019t as authentic. \u00a0The meat wasn\u2019t as fresh; the vegetables weren\u2019t as flavored; the seasonings weren’t quite right. \u00a0At the first family\u2019s restaurant, the old techniques were still used. \u00a0Some of these techniques were frowned upon in the big city. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leaning onto and laughing with her co-worker, Tosca was happy that she didn\u2019t let the past bitterness stop her from joining her sisters. \u00a0Though a small portion of it lingered, there was a pact among them separating work from personal life. \u00a0Both sets of lives were important but one directly affected the future of entire kingdoms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chaeri looked around to make certain that they weren\u2019t being watched then placed a device the size of her finger in the center of the table. \u00a0As it activated, sound and light outside of their table was warped signaling its sound muffling effect. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now safe to discuss important matters, Tosca spoke up, \u201cHow was the experiment?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianne continued eating for a while. \u00a0After a few seconds she swallowed, looked up with a smile, and simply said, \u201cPerfect.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHow perfect?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTurned rock to glass in a heartbeat\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Chaeri stopped leaning on Tosca, to make sure she heard Adrianne correctly. \u00a0She knew exactly what it implied but had to check just in case, \u201cWhat about steel?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianne, grinned back at Chaeri to make sure she understood, \u201cDidn\u2019t have time, but it should work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tosca now leaned heavily onto Chaeri, looked at her and stuck out her tongue, \u201cSo?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Chaeri held a stiff expression for a little while but after a few seconds gave a defeated sigh and said, \u201cFine, I\u2019ll buy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianne just now realized what was happening and shouted, \u201cYou two?\u201d Her face twisted in frustration, \u201cNo gambling!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so statistically improbable,\u201d Chaeri reasoned, \u201cSo technically\u2026 It wasn\u2019t really gambling.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut you lost,\u201d Tosca reminded her of the obvious.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOkay fine,\u201d Chaeri knew when she had lost a battle but at least it was good for the clan. \u00a0Still, curiosity overcame her pride, \u201cI\u2019d like to see the video.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianne took another bite of her sandwich before removing her communicator from her coat pocket. \u00a0Soon the holographic recording of the missile test was displayed for those inside of their distortion bubble. \u00a0Their eyes widened as the missile head broke into parts and grabbed the rock and melt it in midair. \u00a0The dirty heap landed and rolled, setting fire to the grass. \u00a0Droids put out the flame before it got out of hand. \u00a0The beautiful and precise device would serve them well in the trails, incredibly well.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhoa,\u201d Tosca shouted, \u201cThat\u2019s better than I thought!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianne held her grin during the entire recording. \u00a0She correctly predicted their responses and knew what should come next. \u00a0\u201cSo,\u201d said still smiling, \u201cto celebrate?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHunting?\u201d Chaeri suggested. \u00a0It wasn\u2019t her favorite pastime but Tosca loved it. \u00a0As a form of apology for earlier bitterness and acknowledgement of Tosca\u2019s recent victory, it made sense.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes!\u201d Tosca cheered pumping her free first into the air.<\/span><\/p>\n

It worked.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrianne too wasn\u2019t particularly fond of hunting, but there was something about it that kept their senses sharp. \u00a0Also, the animals around here were particularly strong, heavy, and kept the restaurant filled. \u00a0\u201cWell, they\u2019re always looking for more meat,\u201d she said before taking another large bit of her sandwich.<\/span><\/p>\n
