The Unholy Talent Set

The Unholy Talent Set is mostly a support set.  Like the Holy Talent Set, it is a newer talent set.  It is chosen by warriors that do not mind taking a risk during battle.  It is also chosen by those that do not do much on the battle field but want to make pretty cool crafts.  The risk and benefits are great.  However, random citizens are wary of Unholy Talent users.

With the Unholy Talent Set, special moves and abilities can be enhanced with unholy energy.  The result is a move or ability that is much more powerful.  Damage over time effects can do up to double the damage.  Speed attacks become faster.  All of the attacks enhanced by the Unholy Talent Set also give an amount of unholy damage.  This does extra damage to most enemies.

The set is versatile.  The enhancing ability can be set to passive, buffing a certain moves.  It can also be set as a focus move taking a slot on the move list.  It would have to be selected before the desired move.

There are a few moves unique to this set but they resemble moves from other sets.  Unholy fireball, unholy strike, contaminate ground, they all do what their name suggests.  These moves however can also be used with the enhancement ability for triple damage.

As the character does damage with this set they get closer to becoming an unruly beast.  Unable to tell friend from foe, this beast uses unholy enhanced versions of the character’s attacks against everything.  While a beast, the player has no control over the character and the character will be as destructive as possible.  It will start attacking its attackers first, things using spells on it second, moving things third, and then everything else.

They are much more powerful in beast form but are far from invincible.  The predictability of its targets makes luring, and distracting strategies easier.  It can even be used strategically while fighting a boss or strong target.

A player has no visible meter that says when the character is about to change.  Without this, the player must rely on subtle hints when the character walks or speaks.  Each time a character turns into a beast it gets easier and easier to turn again.  Only after a period of staying in base form would the rate of change go back to normal.  The only safe way to know that the meter is back to default is by getting help from someone with the Holy Talent Set or by not changing at all for five hours.

In the stories, turning into a wild beast is enjoyable to characters.  Releasing all inhibition and boundaries is very freeing and can become an addiction for them.  Their personality changes becoming more reckless the closer they are to turning.  They have a hard time telling they are changing.  Their companions have to tell them but the Unholy Talent users don’t always take the warnings seriously.

The character must pay for its actions while in beast form.  This is reason enough for a player to be careful what they do in a friendly city.  Even with the drawbacks, it is a powerful talent set and is used just as often as the other sets.

Champions of Battle: AD7 – Awakening #6

AD7 had some doubts about them.  It was apparent that they were responsible for her being here.  Why she was here was still a mystery.  All but one of them wore cloaks completely hiding their form from her, not a good first impression.  She could only tell their heights.  The shortest one seemed to be their leader.  She had spoken for the group before and the other cloaked figures seemed to flank her.

AD7 looked at the leader to address the group on the other side of the glass, “What do you want me to,” AD7 moved as she addressed them and only to noticed she had the barest of coverings, “Where are my clothes?!”  She covered herself as best she could with the sheet provided but it was really thin.

The short one handed the microphone to the one without the cloak.  “They must have been destroyed in the explosion,” he said calmly.

“What explosion?”  She remembered no explosion, only sitting and enjoying a drink.  A sudden fright to her left, then she was here.

“You’re waking up in a Rejuvenation Center.”

That was a possible explanation, a Rejuvenation Center.  Then she was killed in an explosion.  That also explains the machines and why she was so thirsty.  She was never one to take dangerous missions.  What could cause the explosions?  She could not remember!

The leader says something to the others.  The two larger cloaked figures and the uncloaked male leave the room.  The leader takes off her cloak while she and the other female go into the room with AD7.  AD7’s suspicions were confirmed.  This lady was really short, much shorter than average.  Her skin was black as soot with large golden spots everywhere.  She had a normal looking grey tunic.  The only thing strange about it was that it was covered in large black characters.  They seemed familiar but she could not read them.

Without her cloak, her guns became much more apparent.  Her muscles were unnatural for the average woman.  She had to be a dangerous fighter.  She also had four blasters and two daggers holstered to her body.  Her serious gaze radiated beauty and her eyes glowed slightly with an electric blue hue.

They walked into the room and the leader placed her cloak onto AD7.  Now covered and slightly more private, AD7 felt a little more comfortable talking to her.  Their leader continued, “My name is Tirzah Hang.  We represent the city of Sanity.  Our best builder has gone and you are the best suited to help us,” she paused reading the look on AD7’s face, “I’m sorry for your confusion.  We will help you piece your life together.  However, we really need your help if you are willing.”

AD7 still had her doubts but was quick to decide.  They had already helped her so much and have promised to help her more.  Maybe the cloaks were just some kind of uniform.  The least she could do was to help them as best she could.  “Okay, sure.  Consider it a ‘thank you’ for bringing me back.”

“Thank you Aa Dee Seven.  We will see what we can do to help you discover who you were and help you get used to the changes.”

“Changes?”

Champions of Battle: The Very Best – Opportunity #4

Jaquan’s crew sat waiting for him just outside the entrance of the club.  He was thankful for them.  With all his admirers, it was easy to lose track of what was important.  To the fans, his victories could seem like inevitable ends to a game.  These three, his trusted friends, helped him to stay on top of the game.  They helped him train.  They went through his hardships and frustrations with him.  They deserved to be here just as much as he did.  Catlin seemed to agree with him.  She made dress clothes for all of them.  They were just as dazzling as his coal-lined suit.

The purple skinned Neely wore a somewhat white suit and pants and light blue tie.  He was at a table looking into the room.  Jaquan could see the back of the suit where the realistic image of a glowing blue arrow was placed.  His coat was enchanted to make the arrow look like it was moving at high speeds through clouds though it stayed in the same position on his coat.  The arrow itself was lit with a light blue flame.  The image of clouds swept through his clothes, continually changing the pattern.

Liana wore a simple but elegant black dress.  It matched her black skin and showed off her figure nicely.  On the lower right leg was a flame that came up to her knee.  It was a convincing image glowing brightly.

Catlin saved the best dress for herself, red and over the right shoulder exposing most of her left wing.  The open section went nearly down to her hip showing off her perfect green skin and some of her tan spots.  All around her dress were small sequins.  They were brilliant as the light hit them.  Instead of simply reflecting the light, small flames appeared as the light hit.  As more light that hit her, more flame would appear.  She stood in the light waiting, so it looked as though her whole dress was a fire.

“Fire themed,” Jaquan said honestly amazed as he approached “Catlin, you’ve outdone yourself this time.”  Her enchants had gotten much stronger since she started learning the Unholy Talent Set.  “Did you use your new talents again?”

“Don’t you know it,” she replied rising to meet him, “I didn’t turn,” she paused to correct herself, “that much, this time.”  Her enchanting was enhanced by the new Unholy Talent Set but using them had a drawback.  Turning into a large beast was a natural side effect of using the Unholy Talents too much.  She enjoyed going wild every now and then.  The reckless freedom was very liberating though she often caused damage, to everything.

“Be careful next time,” Jaquan said concerned as he hugged the short lady lightly.  The fire dress was of course an illusion just like the burning coals on his suit.  He really did appreciate the clothing, but if she hurt herself while making them, it would not be worth the glamour.

“We ready to go in then,” Neely finally spoke up in his quiet tone, almost mumbling.

“I don’t see why not,” Liana responded for all of them.

With the last and greatest member of the team there, they all went in together as The BigBad Crew.
